Drift With SiR & ScHoolboy Q In “Something Foreign”

One of Top Dawg Entertainment’s latest signees SiR imbues each track with an unparalleled soul. The Inglewood-bred artist has built a dedicated following with Her and Her Too, with even more smooth content on the way.

“Something Foreign” recruits fellow TDE member ScHoolboy Q for a true late night vibe. The two sway over piano-led production from Saxon, allowing listeners to get lost in a blissful experience. Director Jack Begert builds upon the ominous atmosphere to bring the track to life. SiR also hints at his next release slated to arrive on January 19.

SiR will also be heading on tour with Miguel and Nonchalant Savant in the new year. Check out the video for “Something Foreign” and his upcoming tour dates below.

Isaiah Rashad // “Smile” (Visuals)

Isaiah Rashad is back the with his latest track, “Smile.” Only a night after release, Rashad also revealed its hazy music video, directed by PANAMÆRA. The dark atmosphere accompanies Rashad’s aggressive-as-ever flow—juxtaposed with a soulful sample flipped by D. Sanders—as he spews brutal honesty, refined introspection and glaring passion. Sanders also produced “Heavenly Father” from Rashad’s debut project, Cilvia Demo (which happens to be my most played album of all time).

In a recent interview with MTV, TDE President Dave Free gave anxious fan some exciting news:

“I’m excited for people to hear the new SZA album. I’m stupid excited for y’all to hear the Isaiah Rashad album. I’m stupid excited for y’all to hear the new Ab-Soul. I’m so excited for y’all to hear Q’s album. Oh my God. These are songs I’ve been living with. I already know what it’s gonna do.”

No word yet if “Smile” will appear on the album, but needless to say, the TDE takeover is already in effect.

Peep the video below, grab a copy of the track on iTunes, and stay tuned for the latest on his upcoming album.

Kanye West Drops “Real Friends & No More Parties in LA,” Announces ‘WAVES’ Release Date

As per usual, Kanye West broke the Internet with new music today. A few technical difficulties later, West unveiled “Real Friends” with help from Ty Dolla $ign, alongside a snippet of “No Parties in LA,” which taps TDE frontman Kendrick Lamar. West’s flow and delivery are throwbacks to his Late Registration/College Dropout era, to the relief of many who were less than impressed with his New Year’s “Facts.” Coupled with Ty Dolla $ign’s vocals, the cut channels his search for genuineness in the industry. The tease of Kendrick’s verse at the end of the track leaves us impatiently wanting to hear more.

Early stages of “No Parties in LA” can be traced back to his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy studio sessions. In the 2014 documentary Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton, West raps several bars reminiscient of the second cut alongside the multitalented Madlib, who assisted in bringing the track to life.

If you’re digging this new Kanye, you may be in luck! Kim Kardashian hinted in a recent tweet that fans will continue to receive new music from Kanye every Friday, hopefully leading to the release of his heavily anticipated album, SWISH.

“Who your real friends? // We all came from the bottom // I’m always blaming you // But what’s sad you’re not the problem” – Kanye West

“Come Erykah Badu me, well, let’s make a movie” – Kendrick Lamar

UPDATE: SWISH will be released next month.

UPDATE 2: SWISH will now be called WAVES.

Anderson .Paak Shows No Signs of Slowing, Taps ScHoolboy Q for “Am I Wrong”

Just two nights after debuting a new track via Dr. Dre’s the Pharmacy, Anderson .Paak has blessed music lovers once again with a new dance anthem, “Am I Wrong.” Along for the ride is TDE’s own ScHoolboy Q, who delivers a crisp verse, one of the few we’ve heard from him since he dropped Oxymoron last year. The two were spotted in the studio together during an episode of Paak’s Animal series with Mass Appeal and also shared the stage at a recent show in LA.

To jumpstart the week, we can finally bear witness to the studio version of the fruits of their labor. The groove-filled cut was produced by Canada’s own Pomo, and even features some extra vocals from R&B singer Omarion. This is just a taste of the endless vibes we can expect from Paak’s upcoming album, Malibu, slated to be released before the end of the year.
