I first came across Tyler Wrighteous when he dropped his Nimbus project about a year ago. Since then, the multitalented artist has kept the heat coming with tracks like “Ovation” and his latest titled “Talk.” The self-produced cut recruits fellow Virginia talent Matt McGhee, carrying a heavy boom-bap energy as the two deliver their crisp verses to call out those that ramble in their raps. Tyler and Matt continue to evolve with each release, leaving us excited to see what they have in store in the near future.

I’ve been a huge fan of Matt McGhee ever since I stumbled upon “CARNIVAL” on SoundCloud a few months ago. The Maryland artist has since held us down with singles like “Shea Butter Mami” and “Shining,” leading into the release of his latest project titled Under New Management. Matt flexes his skills with the pen over a wide range of production, paired nicely with features from King Rose, rMell, and Autumn Bella. As the title suggests, the mixtape serves as a testament to leaving his previous management team behind and focusing on the independent route moving forward.
Matt teamed up with Artistic Manifesto to premiere a special version of Under New Management with audio clips from The Office in-between tracks. Matt also sheds light on his forthcoming album, Somehow I Manage, slated for release next week on June 2.
Peep both versions below and stay tuned for more from Matt and his GRAMFAM crew.
With two projects on the horizon, Matt McGhee recently dropped off a preview of what’s in store, “Shea Butter Mami.” Matt’s ode to the inner and outer beauty of women features his catchy verses over a synth-led beat from fellow GramFam member Jaylen!, marking their first collab since “luna” last year. The refreshing track is more than enough to hold us down while we await more from the Maryland talents.

The first time I stumbled upon Ciscero was back when he teamed with King Rosè for “Who I Am,” an exhibition of their relentless flows and rap game prowess. Since then, Ciscero has kept the momentum going with tracks like “Fall In Love” with GoldLink and “Write About” with Obii Say, leading to the release of his latest cut titled “Pressure.” Produced by Supah Mario, this stacked tune recruits fellow DMV artists Matt McGhee and April George (of April + Vista) for a soulful collab. Swift piano rolls coupled with their verses and a easy riding hook create a thoroughly smooth listen.

Matt McGhee is back with his latest single, “Shining.” The Maryland emcee encourages listeners to avoid the game of comparison and to keep a straight head during the come-up. Producer LAKIM laces together a bouncy instrumental filled with crisp percussion and start-and-stop piano chords, tied together with additional vocals from Malik and ponch.
