PLAZA Teases ‘Moody’ EP With “Over”

Toronto is quickly becoming a breeding ground of the neo-soul R&B movement. PLAZA is one of the latest graduates of the 6ix, with his unique brand of cloaked, moody music making him a forerunner of the genre. His debut project impressed new listeners, and as he gears up for his next release, all signs point towards him continuing his upward ascendance.

PLAZA’s latest release, “Over,” is a trademark piece. In an interview with Highsnobiety the Canadian conceded his preference for relative anonymity, saying he prefers “simplicity” and “a very focused aesthetic.” Any one of PLAZA’s songs could serve as a more than eloquent and succinct introduction to his craft. “Over” is no different. His ambling vocals resonate and echo within the undulating instrumental. PLAZA begins the track with a swirling siren song that gradually swells into silence before bouncing into the dynamic production. “Over” is a quintessentially PLAZA song, but simultaneously ardently different from his previous work. It’s a testament to his musical identity, and a statement of intent for his upcoming project.
