Just under two weeks out from the release of his newest project, The Iceberg, Oddisee has dropped another single off the album to ensure he has our full attention. “NNGE” is a typically sophisticated piece from Oddisee, who trades verses with fellow Maryland man Toine.
Oddisee builds on the themes he has frequently touched upon in his music, providing political and social commentary over a driving drum loop reminiscent of the prolific D.C. music scene. The two men, progeny of the nation’s capital, discuss the state of affairs that is sure to resonate with them on a more personal, geographical level. Oddisee closes the track with a message of hope, support and sympathy, his voice bouncing with the instrumental in a soulful, candid cadence.
Oddisee has built a following off of his ability to blend his soulful, conscious messages over catchy instrumentals, old and new school alike. “NNGE” is a window into his new album, but is just the tip of the titular iceberg.
