After continuing to refine his sound through collabs with fellow Chicagoans Noname, Chance the Rapper, and Joey Purp, Saba has reemerged with his Bucket List Project. It’s been just over two years since we were introduced to ComfortZone, and from the moment you press play, his newfound confidence seeps throughout each track. The collection features previous singles like “Church Liquor / Liquor Store” and “Symmetry,” fleshed out with self-production, as well as foundations from Phoelix, Monte Booker, and Cam O’bi.
Saba sprinkles voice memos between each song, allowing icons from around the Windy City to share what’s on their bucket lists. Topped with further appearances from the likes of Twista, Smino, and Ravyn Lenae, Saba’s latest project explores Chicago from all angles as he reflects on his come up, the current state of his hometown, and what’s to come in the near future. His malleable flow travels through each soundscape with ease, highlighting his versatility and vocal dexterity.
