As a man of many sonic gems, James Fauntleroy is one of the most talented, humble arists out. Despite missing an official solo album or project, with a quick scroll through his SoundCloud, it’s easy to see that Sensei Fauntleroy has more than enough content to hold us down.
Over the weekend, Fauntleroy snuck in two more tracks, “Say Where” and “Oblige,” to his repotoire of sounds. “Say Where” begins with a funky guitar riff, setting the scene for Fauntleroy’s smooth voice. His groovy array of sounds culminate to form an upbeat mixture of R&B, soul and funk.
Dedicated to the late Dominique Trenier, former producer and manager of D’Angelo, “Oblige” molds together woozy melodies and Fauntleroy’s delicate croons. The track also stands as our first peek at his upcoming project, DOJO.
